Course Details
Full Time: 8 weeks (Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm)
Part Time: 40 weeks, one day per week (Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm)
This course delivers the fundamentals of barbering and will give you a solid foundation to start your barbering career or to progress onto a barbering apprenticeship. Perfect for school leavers who want to kick start their career in barbering and has the option of funding for eligible adult learners.
Train in our realistic barbershop environment to ensure you gain commercial experience on a minimum of 100 clients ensuring you leave ready to start work as a junior barber or apprentice.

- Consultation techniques
- Customer service
- Health and Safety
- Tool maintenance
- Shampoo and condition the hair and scalp
- Cut men’s hair, including clipper and scissor work, fading, outlines, texturising
- Cut facial hair, including beard shaping and care
- Blowdrying and styling men’s hair
- Promote products and services
- Create an image based on a theme

Funding
Full funding may be available for learners who are unable to pay for the course privately. Learners must meet the following criteria:
- 16-18 school leavers fully funded
- Adult learners aged 19 or over on 31st August of the academic year
- Living in the BCP Council area
- UK citizenship or British Residency for a minimum of 3 years
- Be unemployed or earning under £18,525 per year
