The Level 3 Advanced and Creative Hairdressing Professional Apprenticeship is designed for those who are ready to take their hairdressing skills to the next level. Building on the foundations learned at Level 2, this apprenticeship is all about pushing boundaries, breaking the rules, and developing your own creative identity as a professional hairdresser.

Course Content

Throughout the programme, you will refine your technical expertise while exploring advanced and fashion-forward techniques. Units covered include:

  • Providing in-depth client consultation services
  • Advanced and creative cutting services
  • Creative fashion styling and finishing services
  • Providing smoothing and strengthening services
  • Advanced and creative colour services
  • Using fashion-forward trends, creative and precision techniques to design and create a professional collection of hairstyle looks

You will continue to work in a salon environment, gaining valuable commercial experience on live clients to ensure your skills are relevant, current and industry-ready. Training is delivered through a combination of workplace learning and regular academy sessions, supported by expert tutors with extensive industry experience.

A unique and exciting element of this apprenticeship is the opportunity to create your own professional hair collection. You’ll take part in a dedicated photoshoot experience, working alongside a professional photographer and makeup artist to produce a high-quality collection of looks. This collection will form part of your submission for your End Point Assessment and serve as a standout addition to your professional portfolio.

The Level 2 Hairdressing Professional Apprenticeship is ideal for anyone with little or no previous experience who is looking to begin a rewarding career in hairdressing. This programme provides strong foundations from day one, equipping you with the essential skills, knowledge and confidence needed to succeed in a professional salon environment.

Course Content

During the apprenticeship, you will learn a wide range of core hairdressing techniques, including:

  • Client consultation
  • Shampooing, conditioning and treating the hair and scalp
  • Cutting hair using a range of techniques to create different looks
  • Styling and finishing hair using a variety of methods
  • Colouring and lightening hair using professional techniques
  • Perming hair

You’ll develop your skills while working in a real salon, gaining valuable hands-on experience with live clients. In addition, you’ll attend one of our academies once every fortnight for expert-led training and support.

Throughout the apprenticeship, you will earn at least the National Minimum Wage for apprentices. The programme typically takes 20–24 months to complete.
